Qh. Qin, Thermoelectroelastic Green's function for thermal load inside or on the boundary of an elliptic inclusion, MECH MATER, 31(10), 1999, pp. 611-626
The thermoelectroelastic Green's functions are presented for an infinite pi
ezoelectric plate with an elliptic inclusion of dissimilar material induced
by a thermal load located inside or on the boundary of the elliptic inclus
ion. The load may be a point heat source and the thermal analog of a line d
islocation with temperature discontinuity. The derivation is based on the S
troh formalism, conformal mapping and the method of analytical continuation
. The study shows that the thermoelectroelastic Green's functions for inclu
sion problems are composed of a particular solution and a corrective soluti
on. The special case when the inclusion becomes a hole is also considered.
Based on the Green's function developed and the integral equation approach,
the stress and electric displacement (SED) intensity factors for an infini
te plate containing an inclusion and a crack are analyzed and comparison is
made with those from the finite element method (FEM) to verify the accurac
y of the proposed formulation. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights re
