Abstract
The scattering of molecules from clean and hydrogen terminated (1 1 1) diam ond surfaces is studied in the energy range from 400 to 3000 eV. The primar y molecules are N-2 and O-2. At grazing incidence we observe scattering of intact molecules and dissociation processes. Most of the scattered particle s are neutrals. Negative molecular ions are observed in the case of O-2. Th ere are also negative atomic ions in the case of primary atomic O, and some positive atomic ions in all cases. The yield of O- reaches the 10% range. The O-2(-) yield is much lower, i.e, in the 1% range. (C) 1999 Elsevier Sci ence B.V. All rights reserved.
