Abstract
High-field cantilever-force magnetization measurements of the spin-Peierls compound (TMTTF)(2)PF6 indicate that the uniform phase spin susceptibility is chi(s) approximate to (4.5 +/- 1) x 10(-4) emu/mol and is nearly the sam e magnitude as the molecular diamagnetic contribution. Magnetic-field sweep s in the spin-Peierls dimerized phase show that the onset of magnetic excit ations is near B-c approximate to 19 T, with large hysteresis developing at temperatures T less than or equal to 3 K.
