Using the calculated electron energy-band structure of Tl2Ba2CuO6, we compu
te the dependence of the c-axis magnetoresistance on the orientation of the
magnetic field for different magnitudes of the magnetic field. We explain
the known experimental results for the in-plane rotation of the magnetic he
ld and predict the shape of the magnetoresistance oscillations for the out-
of-plane rotations of the magnetic field. We show hew the latter oscillatio
ns can, in the limit of weak c-axis tunneling, be utilized to reconstruct t
he shape of the Fermi surface and to study the coherence of interplane elec
tron tunneling. [S0163-1829(99)13233-8].
