A multihydrodynamic model is established to simulate a sonoluminescing argo
n bubble. The results show that a partially ionized plasma layer is generat
ed and contributes to the flash by assumed thermal bremsstrahlung. A strong
electric field of up to 2 x 10(10) V/m, caused by the plasma dipole diffus
ion, emerges along the shock front. The spike of the electric field helps p
revent the occurrence of Rayleigh-Taylor instability and thus maintains per
fect spherical symmetry of the shocks. This may be a key reason for the ove
r 12 orders of magnitude sound-energy concentration.
