Abstract
A simple method for the production of ultrashort light pulses (USPs) with s uppressed photon fluctuations is considered, which is based on self-phase m odulation (SPM) of a USP in a nonlinear medium, say, an optical fibre and s ubsequent transmission of a pulse through a dispersive optical element.
