The kinetics of complexation between octa(p-bromophenyl)tetraazaporphine an
d magnesium acetylacetonate in a benzene solution with additions of pyridin
e, 2-methylpyridine, n-butylamine, and diethylamine was studied. The basici
ty of the medium was shown to influence the kinetic parameters of the proce
ss. The scheme is suggested for the formation of the Mg complex with octa(p
-bromophenyl) tetraazaporphine in the organic base-benzene system. The role
of acid-base interactions in the coordination of magnesium(II) with bromo-
substituted octaphenyltetraazaporphine is discussed.
