The Pt(II) and Pd(II) complexes based on sterically hindered fluorinated me
thoxy-beta-diketone CF3-CO-CH2-CO-C(OCH3)(CH3)(2) (HMptfa) were synthesized
and characterized by physicochemical methods. The elemental analytical, IR
spectroscopic, and (H-1, F-19 NMR) data are presented. The behavior of the
complexes during heating in an inert atmosphere and vacuum was studied. X-
ray structural analysis of Pd(Mptfa)(2) was carried out: monoclinic system,
a = 13.517(3), b = 9.414(2), c = 9.655(2) Angstrom, beta = 123.7(3)degrees
, V = 1027.0(4) Angstrom(3), space group C2, Z = 2, p(calcd) = 1.718 g/cm(3
). The structure of the compound is molecular and built from the isolated t
rans complexes Pd(Mptfa)(2). The standard square-planar coordination of pal
ladium atom incorporates four oxygen atoms of two bidentate (O,O) ligands.
The Pd-O bond lengths on the sides of different substituents are equal to 1
.975 and 1.981 Angstrom, and the chelate OPdO angle is 94.08 degrees. The m
olecules in the crystal form weakly bound chains along the [110] direction;
the O(3)... H-gamma distance is equal to 2.53 Angstrom.
