Thermodynamic parameters for complexation of Cu(II) and Zn(II) with 3,3',4,
4',5,5'-hexamethyl- and 3,3',5,5'-tetramethyl-4,4'-diethyldipyrrolylmethene
s (structural fragments of the porphyrin molecules) in n-propanol are studi
ed calorimetrically and spectrophotometrically. It is found that the comple
xes formed are destructed in solutions of metal nitrates at salt concentrat
ions above 1 x 10(-3) mol l(-1). The influence of the functional substituen
ts and the nature of cation on the thermodynamic parameters of complexation
is discussed.
