Abstract
The constants for host-guest complexation between calix[4]resorcinarene (H8 L) and [Ln(Phen)(2)](3+) cations (Phen = 1,10-phenanthroline and Ln = La, P r, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, Lu) in neutral and weakly alkali ne water-organic (dimethyl sulfoxide, isopropanol) media were determined by pH-metric titration. The stability of the [Ln(Phen)(2)(H2O)(n)](3+)[H8-kL] (k-) complexes was found to increase significantly with increasing atomic n umber of lanthanide from La(III) through Ho(III).
