Abstract
Analytical equations are presented for performance evaluation of limit ed-service token-passing networks where each user has two prioritised buffers of finite capacity. Using these equations, the effect of netwo rk parameters (buffer capacity, service discipline) on performance cha racteristics (throughput, time delay) is investigated. It is shown tha t the optimal choice of network parameters according to the design pro cedures can lead to a substantial improvement in the network's perform ance.
