Abstract
Several homeodomain factors ave found in the developing anterior pituitary lobe. The production of these developmental transcription factors has disti nct temporal and spatial patterns. By interacting with each other as well a s with other extrinsic and intrinsic signals, they control cell determinati on and specification. Here, we discuss transcription factors that have been shown to have an in vivo role in pituitary cell-type specification.
