We compare bright grains in the cell interiors of the chromospheric network
with intranetwork magnetic held elements using images from the Transition
Region and Coronal Explorer Satellite (TRACE) taken at H I Ly alpha (121.6
nm) (chromosphere) and the continuum at 160 nm (temperature minimum). We fi
nd only a random correspondence between bright cell grains and regions of i
ntranetwork magnetic flux as seen in these two emissions. In addition, we f
ind that the 160.0 nm cell grains that do overlay magnetic intranetwork sho
w no correlation between intensity and magnetic held strength. However, it
is possible that Ly alpha bright cell grains that overlay magnetic fields m
ay show a slight enhancement in intensity. Our results suggest that the int
ranetwork magnetic held is essentially uninvolved with the production of ce
ll grains in the upper photosphere/lower chromosphere but could have a smal
l involvement with bright cell grains in the chromosphere/transition region
