Abstract
We compare bright grains in the cell interiors of the chromospheric network with intranetwork magnetic held elements using images from the Transition Region and Coronal Explorer Satellite (TRACE) taken at H I Ly alpha (121.6 nm) (chromosphere) and the continuum at 160 nm (temperature minimum). We fi nd only a random correspondence between bright cell grains and regions of i ntranetwork magnetic flux as seen in these two emissions. In addition, we f ind that the 160.0 nm cell grains that do overlay magnetic intranetwork sho w no correlation between intensity and magnetic held strength. However, it is possible that Ly alpha bright cell grains that overlay magnetic fields m ay show a slight enhancement in intensity. Our results suggest that the int ranetwork magnetic held is essentially uninvolved with the production of ce ll grains in the upper photosphere/lower chromosphere but could have a smal l involvement with bright cell grains in the chromosphere/transition region .
