Xd. Tian et al., Determination of arsenic speciation by capillary electrophoresis and ICP-MS using a movable reduction bed hydride generation system, ATOM SPECT, 20(4), 1999, pp. 127-133
The movable reduction bed hydride generation (MRBHG) system, a new hydride
generation technique developed for coupling of CE with ICP for the determin
ation of some hydride-forming elements, has been modified to realize the su
ccessful coupling of CE with ICP-MS. The modifications focused on decreasin
g the RSD and improving the detection Limits. The parameters not studied in
our previous work, such as transport tubing length, moving rate of movable
bed and carrier gas, were investigated to obtain a deeper understanding of
the system. The modified system has been successfully used as an interface
for CE and ICP-MS, and the hyphenated technique has also been applied to t
he determination of four arsenic species in a Chinese medicine using standa
rd addition. The recoveries of As(III), DMA, MMA, and As(V) were 105.4% (+/
-0.5%), 85.0% (+/-0.4%), 108.0%(+/-0.5%), and 88.3%(+/-0.4%), respectively.
