Abstract
Two new phenylethanoid glycosides, ferruginoside A (3,4-dihydroxy-beta-phen ylethoxy-O-beta-D-glucopyranosyl- (1-->6)-2-O-caffeoyl-beta-D-glucopyranosi de) and ferruginoside B (3,4-dihydroxy-beta-phenylethoxy-O-beta-D-glucopyra nosyl (1-->6)-beta-D-glucopyranoside) were isolated, along with the known c ompounds lugrandoside and transferulic acid, from the aerial parts of D. fe rruginea subsp. ferruginea. For structural elucidation of the isolates, che mical transformation (acetylation, methylation, alkaline hydrolysis), one a nd two dimensional (COSY, HMQC, HMBC, ROESY) NMR techniques and FAB-MS were used.
