Abstract
Fresh lithium reacts with gaseous hydrogen to form surface species which ar e probably LiH. Li may also react with the H-2 that is formed by its reacti on with H2O contamination in 1-3 dioxolane solutions. The LIH, when formed, is metastable because it reacts with trace water and the solvent. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science S.A. All rights reserved.
