Abstract
The electrooxidation of methanol on a novel carbon supported PtRu electroca talyst produced via colloidal PtRu precursors was investigated by thin-film -electrode (TFE) measurements and compared with commercially available Pt a nd PtRu catalysts. The PtRu-colloid-based catalyst shows similiar activity towards methanol oxidation as other conventional PtRu catalysts. A comparis on with literature data from half-cell measurements at similiar mass-specif ic current densities clearly demonstrates the high potential of the colloid -based PtRu catalyst for fuel-cell applications.
