Fl. Qiu et Ac. Fisher, The confluence reactor: investigation of the pH-dependent luminescence from 2-naphthol under steady-stale mass transport conditions, ELECTROCH C, 1(1), 1999, pp. 14-16
A new hydrodynamic technique for the measurement of luminescence spectra fr
om chemically reactive species in electrolyte solutions is presented. The n
ew strategy is applied to the pH-dependent luminescence of 2-naphthol. Sepa
rate streams of aqueous acid and fluorescer solutions are brought together
in a hydrodynamically well-defined manner and the resulting emission spectr
a recorded directly in the mixing region. The variation in the steady-state
mission spectra recorded asa function of volume flow rate is reported. The
trends observed are consistent with the ability of the two streams to mix
on the timescale which they how past the detector. (C) 1999 Elsevier Scienc
