Abstract
When methyl methacrylate containing 1,4-diphenylbuta-1,3-diene is polymeriz ed with benzoyl peroxide as initiator, the diene becomes incorporated in th e polymer but only at sites adjacent to benzoate end-groups. Experiments in volving C-14-labelled benzoyl peroxide and ozonolysis of polymers have show n that most of the incorporated diene occurs in 1,4-placements. (C) 1999 El sevier Science Ltd.
