Abstract
NMR-TDNO results using an external (CoCo)-Co-60 (hcp) nuclear orientation t hermometer for non-irradiated, single crystal, antiferromagnetic YbVO4 are compared with those obtained earlier with neutron activated samples using b oth internal and external gamma-ray thermometers. Detailed comparisons are made for the Yb-171 (I = 1/2, 14.31% abundant) stable nucleus. This strongl y asymmetric, largely homogeneous, resonance lineshape was retained and is readily power broadened. Extremely broad, field-dependent homogeneous therm ometric responses are observed in the expected frequency range for the quad rupolar stable nucleus Yb-173 (I = 5/2, 16.13% abundant) for both irradiate d and non-irradiated samples.
