Abstract
TiC reinforced cast iron composites have been prepared by plasma smelting o f ilmenite ore in a bed of steel scrap. The influence of magnesia and zirco n coating on smelting hearth on microstructure of composites have been inve stigated. The composites have been characterized by SEM, EDAX and image ana lyzer, The paper presents in detail the preparation and characterization of TiC reinforced cast iron composites.
