Abstract
A novel high power self-commutated static var compensator for load compensa tion is proposed. The harmonics are eliminated by combining low frequency h igh power devices and high frequency low power devices. A modified control strategy is also proposed for applications involving high and faster rates of change in var demand. Detailed simulation studies for single phase and t hree phase topologies are presented.
