AN UNUSUAL PROBLEM OF CARDIO-TOCOGRAPHY - LATEX ALLERGY

During registration of the cardio-tocogram, a 40-year old Para I Gravi da II developed a contact urticaria against the rubber tape for fixati on of the transducer. A latex allergy was proved by skin test and a po sitive radio-allergo-sorbens test (RAST). The Caesarean section, which was mandatory due to ophthalmological problems, was performed unevent fully using latex-free products. Risk factors for latex allergy are at opia like pollinosis, neurodermitis, asthma bronchiale of allergic ori gin, and further repeated exposition to latex products.
