Deactivation processes of Rhodamine B (RB) in water and interacting with si
lver sols were studied by using conventional fluorescence, laser-induced fl
uorescence, and pulsed laser photoacoustics. Results showed that the emissi
on efficiencies, absorption cross sections, and nonradiative deactivation p
athway of RE interacting with silver spheroids of different sizes are compa
rable to those obtained for the dye in aqueous solutions. (C) 1999 Academic
