Abstract
Several series of fluorocompounds containing tetravalent chromium have been recently prepared. In XeF2. CrF4 and (XeF5+CrF5-)(4) . XeF4, Cr(IV) is loc ated in fluorine octahedra which share corners to form infinite chains of ( CTF4F2/2)(n)(-n). The magnetic behaviour of these compounds has been invest igated in order to deduce the magnetic characteristics of Cr(IV); antiferro magnetic superexchange interactions are present within the chains. Magnetic studies of amorphous CrF4 have also been performed. (C) 1999 Elsevier Scie nce S.A. All rights reserved.
