Negative cross-peaks have been observed in the F-19 2-D magnetization-excha
nge MAS NMR spectre of Ba2MoO3F4 under fast-spinning conditions. The polari
zation transfer dynamics are studied as a function of the spinning frequenc
y and the frequency separation of the resonances. The results are consisten
t with a novel mechanism, in which four spins simultaneously exchange Zeema
n magnetization with each other, in an energy-conserving process. (C) 1999
