Abstract
Results of the optical Kerr effect study in a mixture of carbon disulphide vapour and the air are presented. The measurements were made as a function of temperature and carbon disulphide concentration. Molar Kerr constant, po larisability and optical anisotropy for carbon disulphide molecules were ca lculated assuming time formulae derived within the statistical-molecular th eory of the optically induced birefringence.
