Abstract
Silver(I) nitrate and 2,2'-biimidazole (H(2)biim) crystallize from an aqueous solution to afford a single-strand helix, as evidenced by X-ra y crystallography. This assemblage is based on an approximate cis conf ormation of H(2)biim acting in concert with the preferred linear two-c oordinate nature of the ligated silver(I) atom.
