A noncollinear antiferromagnetic structure with the propagation vector k =
[0 1/2 0] and the transition temperature of approximate to 130 K was found
in the monoclinic compound La2Cu2O5 by single-crystal neutron diffraction.
The crystal structure parameters and the values and directions of the magne
tic moments have been obtained by least-squares refinement. Similar to rare
-earth cuprates R2CuO4 the compound La2Cu2O5 shows a low-dimensional magnet
ic behaviour with critical index beta = 0.228(8).
