H. Schriefers et Jd. Jescheniak, Representation and processing of grammatical gender in language production: A review, J PSYCHOLIN, 28(6), 1999, pp. 575-600
The article reviews recent empirical evidence on the representation and pro
cessing of grammatical gender in language production. The evidence comes fr
om experimental studies on error-free production, studies on the tip-of-the
tongue phenomenon, and studies on naturally occurring or experimentally el
icited speech errors. Relating these studies to current models of language
language production does riot yield one completely consistent picture. Howe
ver, the emerging picture puts Some important constraints on models of lang
uage production.
