Development of an effective and modern contraceptive vaccine is a key facto
r in the global issue of regional population growth as well as agricultural
, medical, economic and social development. A review was done of the curren
t medical literature concerning development of an immunocontraceptive vacci
ne and relative molecular biology technology. Various approaches have been
taken to identify candidate-specific antigens for immunocontraceptive devel
opment, such as sperm, zona pellucida and hormonal antigens. Suppressed fer
tility and the reversibility of these effects on mammalian species, includi
ng humans, have been demonstrated The successful results obtained so far su
pport the continued investigation for an effective immunocontraceptive vacc
ine.
