Abstract
Several new compounds containing the nonafluoromesityl substituent [2,4,6-t ris(trifluoromethyl)phenyl, abbreviated as R-F] have been prepared and stru cturally characterized. Solid state structures are reported for C5Me5P(Cl)R -F (1), Sn(SeRF)(4) (3), Te(R-F), (4) and (AgRF)(4) (5). 1 and 4 crystalliz e in space group P2(1)/c, 3 in space group P (1) over bar, and 5 in space g roup I4(1)/a. While 1 and 3 are monomeric in the solid state, the telluride 4 is dimerized via Te ... F secondary bonds and 5 adopts a tetrameric stru cture containing a central Ag-4 ring. Furthermore the preparation of C5Me5P (H)R-F (2) is described.
