Abstract
Parallel current in an anisotropic high-beta extremely low aspect ratio tok amak plasma is calculated from the linearized drift kinetic equation. It is found that it depends on the radial gradients of the parallel plasma press ure and the magnetic field strength. It can be expressed as the sum of the bootstrap current and the Pfirsch-Schluter current. (C) 1999 American Insti tute of Physics. [S1070-664X(99)02410-6].
