Abstract
The paper describes an integrated design project that forms a substantial p art of the final year of the MEng civil engineering course at the Universit y of Glasgow. The project is structured to develop student design skills by providing the opportunity for innovation and the synthesis of knowledge fr om core subject areas such as hydraulics, geotechnical engineering, structu ral analysis and design. In addition to the development of technical skills , the project affords the opportunity to develop transferable skills in com munication techniques, time management and information technology.
