A case of aspergillosis in an eight week old female alpaca feat with centra
l nerval symptoms is described. At post mortem, lungs and kidney showed mul
tiple disseminated microabscesses, and in the right cerebral hemisphere a s
ingle abscess (1 cm in diameter) was found. Multiple necrotic ulcers of dif
ferent size were present in the camelide abomasum (C3). Grocott's Silver St
ain revealed numerous broad irregular septate fungal hyphae in the necrotic
tissues which could be identified by microbiological culture as Aspergillu
s fumigatus.
