Two young male laborers had a corrective intra-articular osteotomy for
a symptomatic malunited Bennett's fracture. Follow-up examination at
24 and 40 months, both patients experienced dramatic pain relief and i
mproved thumb range of motion, and grip, and pinch strengths. A correc
tive intraarticular osteotomy is an acceptable alternative to arthrode
sis or arthroplasy in select patients with a malunited Bennett's fract
ure.
