Two species of Sirodotia from Australia and New Zealand are documented, inc
luding descriptions, photomicrographs, maps and keys. Sirodotia goebelii sp
. nov., known only from a single nineteenth century collection from south-w
estern Western Australia, has carpogonia with a broad base and usually pedi
cellate and deflexed trichogyne, long and profusely branched erect gonimobl
asat filaments, and longer, elongate carposporangia. Sirodotia suecica Kyli
n is widespread in Australia and New Zealand, including a number of notewor
thy variants. All other species of Sirodotia reported from the region are r
eferred to S. suecica.
