Abstract
Electrochemically generated methyldiphenylgermyl anion reacted with ph enylacetylene to give (Z)-2-methyl(diphenyl)germylstyrene, predominant ly. This result, in contrast to that of the same reaction of methyldip henylgermyllithium, suggests that the intermediate vinyl anion forms a contact ion pair with tetrabutylammonium cation.
