induction periods for the Grignard reagent formation from RBr(R=Et, i-
Pr, n-Bu, i-Bu, t-Bu, c-Hex, Ph) and t-BuCl in the presence of additio
ns of inhibitors (H2O, n-BuOH) were determined. Initiation constants o
f the reaction, k were calculated. Extrapolation of the dependence, k
vs. initial concentration of the inhibitor, to the zero concentration
yields k, independent of added inhibitors. It is suggested that relat
ive values of k are the relative rate constants for the Grignard reag
ent formation.
