The present paper describes the problems arising in studying the kinetics o
f hydrogenation performed in slurry reactors and the ways to solve them. Tw
o examples are considered: the hydrogenation of 2-ethyltetrahydroanthraquin
one, an important step of the industrial production of hydrogen peroxide, a
nd the partial hydrogenation of a rapeseed oil. Both hydrogenations were pe
rformed on the same palladium-supported catalyst. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science
