Abstract
An essential part of all problems relating to the environment is the unders tanding of how living organisms respond dynamically to their physical micro environment or microclimate. For plants, different modelling techniques are available: physical mechanistic modelling, but also mathematical black box modelling can be used. In this paper, these different techniques are prese nted, with special attention to their accuracy and validation. The main goa l of this review is to note whether models have been validated and their ac curacy tested. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
