Abstract
Obtaining an abundant supply of human cells with specific differentiated pr operties is a key issue in many research studies and biotechnology applicat ions. Recent advances in this area include the finding that forced expressi on of the enzyme telomerase can greatly increase the proliferative potentia l of at least some types of human cells, and also the development of method s for culturing human stem cells.
