Abstract
A simple model is presented for the channel biosensor where an oxidase enzy me layer is located upstream of a detector electrode. In this model the enz yme kinetics are restricted to the linear region. The model enables the elu cidation of the parameters important in tuning the response of the biosenso r. Two extreme regimes of operation are identified; the kinetically limited and mass transport limited regimes both provide features which overcome re producibility problems associated with the classical enzyme electrode geome try.
