Abstract
Objectives: To assess the knowledge and misconceptions regarding healt h among students of Science and Arts in the Dammam Girls College. Desi gn: A structured questionnaire was used to assess students' knowledge. Setting: The Girls' College in Dammam, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Metho ds: Data was collected from a sample of 632 students who were enrolled in the Faculties of Arts and Sciences. Results: Students from the Fac ulties of Sciences and Arts constituted 68.8% and 30.4% of the sample respectively. The overall mean knowledge score was 24.04 +/- 4.8. Only 9.8% of students had a score of 30 or more out of a total of 40. The mean knowledge score was significantly higher among students from the Faculty of Sciences than those from the Faculty of Arts. Conclusions: Introducing the topic of health education in schools and colleges is m andatory to improve the deficiency of knowledge regarding health in th e curricula of schools and colleges.
