Rc. Bourge et al., PREDICTING OUTCOME AFTER CARDIAC TRANSPLANTATIONS - LESSONS FROM THE CARDIAC TRANSPLANT RESEARCH DATABASE, Current opinion in cardiology, 12(2), 1997, pp. 136-145
Survival and quality of life after transplantation are limited by post
transplant events such as rejection and infection. The description and
subsequent prediction of these and other events is the goal of the Ca
rdiac Transplant Research Database group. This paper provides a descri
ption of the purpose, methods of data collection and analysis, and res
ults of the published data from the Cardiac Transplant Research Databa
se. A review of the analyses of death, rejection, and infection is mad
e along with a discussion of the clinical application of these data. U
tilizing the data from the Cardiac Transplant Research Database, the c
linician may apply established risk factors for posttransplant adverse
events to individual patients.
