Abstract
Tumor necrosis factor (TNF) is a critical mediator in the immune response t o mycobacteria, particularly in the formation and maintenance of granulomas . Treatment of Mycobacterium bovis BCG-infected mice with TNF and a TNF-mim etic peptide (TNF70-80) altered the number and cellular composition of gran ulomas. This change was associated with a moderate decrease in the bacteria l burden.
