Abstract
Since Peterka first introduced the concept of self-tuning control the indus trial application of self-tuning or adaptive control, has not been as wides pread as might have been expected. Self-tuning concepts are relatively simp le but procedures and techniques for routine plant application have not eme rged quite so easily. As a contribution to enhance the industrial acceptanc e of self-tuning control, the concept of a Limited Authority Self-tuning Co ntroller is described in the first part of the paper. The second part of th e paper gives the details of an industrial application of this concept in e lectric power generation. Conclusions and future research directions close the paper.
