Energy spectra of Compton-scattered X-ray from Li metal have been measured
at high pressure using synchrotron radiation. Compton profile J(q) was obta
ined from the observed energy spectra. It was found that J(q) was affected
by the application of pressure and the Fermi momentum q(F) deduced from J(q
) increased almost linearly with increasing pressure below 2 GPa. The press
ure coefficient of q(F), q(F)(-1)partial derivative q(F)/partial derivative
P, was estimated to be 3.8 x 10(-2) GPa(-1), which is in good agreement wi
th that obtained from the free electron model, 3.3 x 10(-2) GPa(-1).
