Abstract
In reD sbcB sbcD mutants, repair of UV-irradiated DNA is strongly Reef depe ndent, indicating that RecBC is inactive. This finding suggests that exonuc lease V, exonucleas I (SbcB), and the SbcCD nuclease play a redundant role in vivo, which is essential for the recombination activity of the RecBC com plex during UV repair.
