Abstract
This paper reports on an interpretative research study that set out to deve lop a rich description of patients' experiences of the process of preparing for and receiving a blood transfusion. The themes of information-giving and receiving; reactions, both physical an d emotional; and the care and treatment participants received through the e xperience are presented.
